Catching Up Before We Head Out Again!

It’s been quite a while since I last updated you all — and for good reason! After returning from our incredible Alaska adventure, we decided it was time to slow down for a bit and soak in precious moments with family and friends. The RV stayed parked more than usual while we caught our breath from months on the road.

We celebrated my dad’s 85th birthday — a small affair where we laughed over a number of old photos, appreciated love of family, and shared a meal. We also took quite a bit of time to plan, prepare and celebrate one of life’s biggest milestones: our daughter’s wedding. That beautiful day on the family farms will be etched in our hearts forever. 💕

Florida Keys & Gulf Shores

Once the fireworks and sparklers dimmed, we hit the road again for a more laid-back early summer escape. We spent a month in the Florida Keys, soaking up island breezes, fresh seafood, and turquoise waters. We stayed at our most favorite, laid back campground, The Jolly Roger for most of the month, however, we did sneak a weekend stay at Bluewater Key to visit Key West. We were able to get in a few reef dives, paddleboarding, kayaking, and soaking up the rays while floating around! Evenings were spent watching spectacular sunsets while Timber chased iguanas — the kind of moments you can’t help but pause and savor.

Sunset view from our site at the Jolly Roger – evenings like this made it hard to go inside.

From there, we made our way to the Sun Outdoors – Orange Beach, better known as the area of Gulf Shores, Alabama for a few more weeks of coastal charm. Beach walks, bicycle rides, local eats, afternoon pool time, and quiet mornings sipping coffee made it hard to pack up and leave.

Looking Ahead: Our Big Fall Adventure

But, as you all know, sitting still isn’t exactly our style. On August 14th we’ll be rolling out again for a nearly three-month journey packed with new destinations, bucket list experiences, and plenty of unexpected detours. We’ll return home by November 14th, hopefully with just as many stories to share as from Alaska.

Here’s a sneak peek of what’s ahead:

  • Oklahoma City, OK – Dining at the iconic Cattlemen’s Steakhouse
  • Utah’s Mighty 5 – Exploring Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon & Zion
  • Moab, UT – Off-roading adventures and jaw-dropping scenery
  • Mesa Verde National Park, CO – Discovering the ancient cliff dwellings
  • Ski Resorts in UT, ID, MT – Scouting winter playgrounds for future trips
  • Custer State Park, SD – Witnessing the Buffalo Roundup in person!
  • Colorado Springs, CO – Driving to the top of Pike’s Peak & exploring Garden of the Gods
  • Fort Worth Stockyards, TX – Experiencing true Texas cowboy culture
  • Waco, TX – Magnolia Market sightseeing
  • Round Top, TX – Antique hunting heaven
  • McCall, ID & Kerrville, TX – Reuniting with Alaska DRV companions
  • Crystal Beach, TX – Catching up with AIM friends
  • Texas Hill Country – Wine, wildflowers, and winding roads
  • Visiting family in Oklahoma, Idaho, and Texas along the way
A shot from a past visit to Moab – can’t wait to return and hit new trails!

You can see the full mapped route and all our planned stops on our Fall Out West 2025 trip.

Follow Along

We’ll be updating the blog regularly as we go — from the first steak in Oklahoma City to the last sunset before we roll back into our driveway. If Alaska taught us anything, it’s that the road has a way of surprising you, and sometimes the best memories come from the unexpected.

Buckle up, friends — adventure season is about to begin again! 🚐✨
