We’ve spent a glorious four days in a quaint little town about 2 hours north of Boise, Idaho. The RV resort was exceptionally nice and our site overlooked the river.

Finally, we found an RV washing service and were able to wash some of the Alaskan grime & dirt off of Jack & Cheeto! While they both still need an in-depth detail and wax, we can enter & exit the rig now without becoming filthy!

Everyone in and around town was incredibly friendly and helpful. They have a well-stocked, higher end food market called Albertson’s. I found Snake River Farm meats! Mark made several scrumptious meals on the grill for us.
The days were golden, filled with warm temperatures and sunshine. We were close to two ski resorts, so we had to go check those out. Both seemed like great skiing options, so Mark says we will be back to this gem of a place.
Sun Valley
We stayed three days about 30 minutes outside of Sun Valley in a little township called Picabo, made famous for fly fishing along Silver Creek by Ernest Hemingway. Our small campground faced a large pasture with grazing sheep, surrounded by even larger pastures full of cattle. At times, they were quite noisy! Timber wasn’t too sure what to make of the cows, but he wanted to chase the sheep.
While we would enjoy a ski vacation to Sun Valley sometime in the future, overall, it was too crowded for us.

On the way to Big Sky
Mark wanted to break up the long drive from Sun Valley to Big Sky, so we added an overnight in Dillon, MT. On the way, we stopped to take photos at Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve. It consists of a vast area of hardened lava flows intermixed with mounds of cinder cones and sagebrush.

Craters of the Moon is in a section in Idaho that is near a part of the Oregon National Historic Trail, where thousands of emigrants made their way westward through a section of Idaho to settle in Oregon in the mid-1800’s.
Because it has been almost a week since my last post, I decided to push this update. We will tell you much more about the Big Sky area (Livingston, MT) & Spearfish in the next post.
