How I use AdventureGenie to Plan a Great RVing Trip
Begin by designing your trip in three phases: determining your primary stops, selecting your campgrounds, and deciding what you want to see and do.
1. Determine Stops
For the first phase of my trip, home to the Montana border, I had 4 definite stops…my home location, a stop in Indiana, a stop in North Dakota, and our rally point in Great Falls, Montana. After plugging in those 4 stops in AdventureGenie’s Trip Planner and selecting the miles per day we would drive, GenieMagic gave me the remaining stops and my suggested route.
I then decided to delete the suggested two stops from my South Carolina home to Indiana (shown by the orange pins in the above map) to just one overnight in Kentucky, so I changed my preferred mileage for the that segment. I also performed a GenieWish search for interesting and historical things to see and do in North Dakota. Mark and I have not camped in this northern state, and I knew I wanted to spend extra time here exploring and experiencing this state’s treasures.
Next, I asked GenieWishes a few more questions based on the first set of results, checked POIs, and continued to tweak this section of our trip. The results are below with my specific stops and sightseeing selections. Of course, your interests will lead to different options.
The sights for Hillsboro and Cooperstown you can see above. At Jamestown, I want to stop and see the World’s Largest Buffalo Monument and in Stanton, we are going to visit the Lewis & Clark Interpretative Center and the North Dakota State Railroad Museum. We are going to drive the Enchanted Highway in Regent. The infamous Medora Musical and Pitchfork Steak Fondue is our highlight in Medora, as well as Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame.
2. Select Campgrounds
My next to last step was choosing the right campgrounds based on our activities at each stop. Some of our earlier stops are simply overnights to get us on the road early the next morning. These campgrounds are not as important as the ones where we will be using it as a basecamp for several days of exploring the area. That’s where GenieMatch and GenieScore are fantastic at helping you choose just the right campground!

3. Decide Sightseeing Options
My last step was deciding all the things I wanted to do at our stops. I used a combination of GenieWishes and POIs to narrow down our choices.
As you can tell, I worked between steps 2 and 3 to plan my trip. There is no right or wrong way to use AdventureGenie. I also did not mention GenieJourney or the newest feature, Personal Genie, for planning all or portions of your trip. Play around with it and use it the best way for you!

Lengels & Masters family on a camping trip to Walt Disney World
We’ve known Scott (Co-founder and CEO of AdventureGenie) and Lisa (Co-founder and CFO) over 10 years. We encouraged and introduced them to the camping/RVing lifestyle. On a particular local camping trip, while sitting around the campground pool, Scott and Lisa convinced me to join the AdventureGenie team. I began part-time because I had a fitness and wellness business that I loved. However, it soon became apparent that a startup needed a committed and dedicated team.
